33 year old Phil Ivey wins his 6th WSOP golden bracelet. Ivey won this Deuce to Seven Draw Lowball (No-Limit) tournament, after taking out all other 146 entrants to the event and participants of final table of 7. Apart from the golden bracelet, Ivey won a cash prize of $96,367. Rumor has it that this cash prize is nothing compared to side bets wins that Ivey made thanks to winning this event.
Ivey’s path to victory was not without difficulties. Ivey, who has stated that the Deuce to Seven Draw Lowball (No-Limit) is not his favorite game, found himself with the second smallest chip stack at the beginning of the final table play. But Ivey’s aggressive game helped him to bounce back, while other final table contenders were eliminated, one by one. Ivey also entered heads up match with John Monnette with a small chip disadvantage, but quickly managed to turn the tables and take the lead. Then, after a little more than 3 hours he was announced as the big winner of, yet another WSOP event.
Runner up John Monnette ended up with a cash prize of close to $60,000. Other final table players include: Yan Chen, in 3rd place, Erik Kesselman who arrived 4th, Rodeen Tlebi, Raphael Zimmerman and Elia Ahmadian. Total prize pool for the event amounted in a little more than $338,000.
