PokerStars BOOM is online

Last week the beta version of the PokerStars social media site, BOOM was finally relaunched. The site offers two major services: the first one allows you to share your poker hands via social media channels and the second lets you replay your hands. The site has been online for a while, but only for some countries (including Italy and France) and for members of Team PokerStars. It should have already been available in May for all players, but technical problems delayed the release.

BOOM tries to breach the gap between social media and real money online poker rooms by allowing poker sites players to share their hand histories in the social networks. You can now share your hands via Twitter or post them directly to the BOOM website boomplayer.com.

The new tool is similar to the hand history tools on pokerhand.org or weaktight.com, but its innovation comes from its focus on the social media aspect. You can share your results on social networks, your blog or view your actions by playing them again in the replayer function. Only Facebook is not reachable via BOOM as real money games are strictly forbidden on this popular social site.

The BOOM site also comes with a search function so that it allows you to search for interesting hands of other players. You can view the results by "most viewed", "most discussed", "favorite hand" and filter them by date. A cloud will show the most active participants and lead you to a thumbnail view of all the hands of the player. You can even view the posts and hands of Team PokerStars Pros.

Unfortunately older computers may experience some freezes or small lags in using BOOM, due to the complex integration of the client and browser. PokerStars is working to resolve this issue.
